About the show

PhD-opera "What Zarathustra is silent on" is a co-creation of musicians of the NOVA OPERA formation with composers Andriy Merhel, Serhiy Vilka, Yana Shliabanska and director Vlad Troitskyi. The libretto of the opera is based on the work of Friedrich Nietzsche "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" in the Ukrainian interpretation of KLIM. The theme of the opera "What Zarathustra is silent on" is the cyclical integration of cultures. The music is based on the improvisation of musicians, it uses the serial techniques and algorithmic composition. The uniqueness of the project is the use of artifcial intelligence to write fragments of the opera. The use of acoustic and "synthetic" instruments, as well as live electronics in the opera is combined with video art, perfectly worked out light score, plasticity of performers, as well as traditional for the NOVA OPERA formation extended vocal techniques.

In recent seasons, the works of NOVA OPERA have been performed on such European and American venues as Musikverein (Vienna Philharmonic), Macedonian opera and ballet, Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre, National Philharmonic of Ukraine, Lviv National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Big Opera Hall of The Centre for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin, National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine, Here Theatre in New York at PROTOTYPE Opera Festival, Rotterdamse Schouwburg and New Luxor Theatre at Operadagen Rotterdam Festival.
